ENZED Top Fuel Championships : Sunday

Good morning folks, we are here at Willowbank Raceway for the Enzed Top Fuel Championships

on raceday Sunday, ready for first round.

TOP FUEL ROUND 1

L) Phil Read : 5.766 / 190.22                 WIN

R) Mark Mariani : 14.637 / 53.45

Read out hard, up in smoke before half track, and peddles a couple of times,

finally legging it through, the car dancing around from half track. Mariani strikes the tires

before 60ft.

 

L) Darren Morgan : 4.770 / 290.94     WIN

R) Alan Dobson : 4.931  /306.60

Strong side by side burnouts, 13 hundredths of a second margin of victory in a great side by side drag race.

 

L) Steve Read : NTR

R) Martin Stamatis : 5.267 / 204.57      WIN

Read makes the call, after some earlier issues in the fire-up. Stamatis lifts the blower at 660ft, Read up in smoke right off the line

 

R) Phil Lamattina : 9.067 / 82.55        WIN 

L)

The number 1 qualifier gets a solo run, by 330ft a cylinder was out, the car looking down on horsepower, shaking the tires.

PRO STOCK ROUND 1

First round of Pro Stock is up

 

L) Denis Whiting : 7.174 / 189.87      WIN

R) Shane Tucker : 9.30

And we have a burndown to open first round! Tucker in, Whiting hangs him out, and Whiting takes the win.

 

L) Wayne Daley : 7.214 / 189.04       WIN 

R) Rick Chilton : 7.344  /186.12

QLD v ACT in this next pair, Daley out strong and takes the win

 

L) Lee Bektash : 7.157 / 191.05        WIN

R) Brian Pursell : 7.397

 

L) Tyronne Tremayne :  0.00 / 0.00

R) Jason Hedges : DNS

Hedges with some issues with the car and doesnt make the call for the first round.

Tremayne stages, then leaves before the starter throws the switch, giving him no time or speed.

There is NO winner on this pass, Tremayne disqualified. This will get interesting.

 

L) Aaron Tremayne : 7.161 / 190      WIN

R) Bill Kotsias : 7.26

Tremayne and Kotsias in a great drag race, Tremayne advances.

 

L) Dave Newcombe : 7.15 / 191         WIN

R) Nick Xerakias : 7.15 / 192

QLD v VIC, the state of origin theme continues here, 3 thousands of a second victory, Newcombe wins in a nail biter!

 

L) John Barbagallo : 7.215 / 191.57      WIN

R)

Barbagallo on a solo.

 PRO FX ROUND 1

 11.59, Pro FX is up next.

 

L) Tony Wedlock : 8.186 / 128.35           WIN

R) Ben Bray : NTR

Bray with a huge burnout, a unique matchup, Wedlock held out by Bray for a long time, Wedlock buttons off early

 

L) Craig Dyson : NTR

R) Joe Signorelli :

Drama here, both cars shut off. Bray runs out onto the track, guiding Signorelli into stage, then shuts off. Bizarre....

 

L) Rod Harvey: NTR

R)

After the burnout, Harvey pulls over to the side of the track. This puts a premature end to ProFX, a strange first round, with more drama than races.

RAIN DELAY

The sun is back out, the track is being dried, an isolated shower was enough to halt action for now.

We are scheduled to be back under way at 3pm.

PRO STOCK ROUND 2

2.45pm

Second round of Pro Stock is up.

 

L) Denis Whiting : Red light, shut off

R) John Barbagallo : 10.562 / 85.49     WIN

We open up second round of pro stock, with Barbagallo shutting off early, Whiting red lit and also shut off

 

L) Aaron Tremayne : 7.162 / 190.92      WIN

R) Wayne Daley : 7.259 / 188

Tremayne drills Daley on the tree, and its all over for Daley as Aaron pulls away at every incremental.

 

L) Lee Bektash : 7.186 / 189

R) Tyronne Tremayne : 7.167 / 190    WIN

Tyronne re-instated after the first round as it was discovered that there was a fault with the tree.

No games on the tree this time, and a great side by side race

 

L) Dave Newcombe : 7.145 / 192.11     WIN

R)

Newcombe with a solo into the semis, and does it with lane choice.

 

3.10pm : Track crew is cleaning up some oil. Heavy clouds building again, the air temp has dropped dramatically.

We will be down for another 15 minutes, before Top Fuel

TOP FUEL SEMI FINALS 

3.30pm

Top Fuel semi final is now up

 

L) Phil Lamattina : 5.86 / 156

R) Phil Read : 4.779 / 301.27       WIN

Lamattina was dropping cylinders early, eventually shutting off, Read storms through for the win, with head gasket damage, flame, and a spot in the final round.

 

L) Darren Morgan : 4.701 / 314.68

R) Martin Stamatis : 4.622 / 298.54      WIN

This was a great side by side drag race. Both cars moving around a lot from half track onwards in an awesome race.

Stamatis with a lot of smoke trailing, and what looks like another lost blower belt. Phil Read and Martin Stamatis, the teammates, will face off in the final round.

PRO STOCK SEMI FINALS

L) Dave Newcombe : 7.13                  WIN 

R) Aaron Tremayne 

 

L) Tyronne Tremayne : 7.162 / 191.10

R) John Barbagallo : 7.167 / 192.08        WIN

Barbagallo wins a spot in the final round in a great side by side matchup

PRO FX FINAL

6.25pm

ProFX final is a solo run from Tony Wedlock. Wedlock possibly going to a V6 combination in this car in the future,

in partnership with Toyota.

L) Tony Wedlock : 8.553 / 115.84       WIN

R)

Wedlock buttons off after half track and cruises through.

 

PRO STOCK FINAL

6.35pm

L) Dave Newcombe : 7.162 / 187.13       WIN

R) John Barbagallo : 8.675 / 114.93

An all-QLD final, JB Automotive powerplants on both sides of the track .

Newcombe takes the win, Barbagallo squirrely early and eventually gives it up.

 

TOP FUEL FINAL

6.40pm 

L) Phil Read : 4.771 / 280.60       WIN

R) Martin Stamatis : 5.798 / 156.70

An all JRR final, the first in a long time, Read with the win, trailing a small flame from more burnt head gaskets, but a win is a win. Stamatis pitches a blower belt just after half track.

 

And that concludes the live results from Read Speed Racing for the ENZED Top Fuel Championships.
